EA Shuts Down BioWare and Cancels the Next Mass Effect

The studio that made Mass Effect is shutting down. EA is closing BioWare after thirty years, and the next Mass Effect game is cancelled.

It was still in early development with a small team. The closure is part of a restructuring that cuts about four hundred jobs, two months after EA went private in a fifty five billion dollar buyout. BioWare gave us Baldur's Gate, Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

But Andromeda, Anthem and Dragon Age: The Veilguard all fell short of EA's hopes. Nobody has said yet what happens to Mass Effect itself.
